I know it’s still a few weeks to go before 2016 is out but I wanted to post this list so you still have time to go and buy those last-minute Christmas gifts, if needed. So here are the Top 10 books that I’ve read this year:
Blimey; this one blew my socks off. If you haven’t read C.J.’s latest; you’re missing out big time!
The Psychopath Test by Jon Ronson
A fantastic insight into the minds of people who truly fascinate us: the Psychopaths. Jon Ronson is a pro at what he does and we get sucked into a world of mad and powerful people along with him.
London Belongs to Us by Sarra Manning
A wonderful romantic romp around London with a brilliant cast of characters.
Be still by music-loving heart! Sophia ticks all the boxes for me when it comes to heartache, heart-break and heart throbs.
Raymie Nightingale by Kate DiCamillo
A strange story about a trio of girls that get thrown together with the goal of winning the local beauty pageant. Beautiful and haunting.
Varjak Paw by S.F.Said & Dave McKean
Simply superb. A perfect example of how an author and illustrator can work hand in hand to produce a real gem of a book that needs each other to make the story truly sing the way it does. Also: cats.
Black Light Express by Philip Reeve
The sequel to Railhead (which I also ruddy loved) and it just continues to go from strength to strength as a series. Can’t wait for Book Three!
The True and Untold Story of the Outlaw of Tam Barker by Andy Robb:
Yes; I’m biased. So, sue me but buy the book at least first!
A Boy Called Christmas & The Girl Who Saved Christmas by Matt Haig & Chris Mould
Utterly Charming. What more can I say? Buy it.
Death or Ice Cream by Gareth P. Jones
A Wild Card for my final choice. A weird book that I was really taken with when I first read it. Perfect for readers that like books with the touch of Tim Burton about it but taken to the nth degree really. Funny but strange.
